As the company reaches its half century, the business is continuing to grow and at our base at Farling Top, Cowling, works are nearing completion on a new purpose-built workshop facility. Constructed on a 5000sq ft plot adjacent to the existing workshop, the new facility is a 2500sq ft steel-framed industrial unit that includes a 20-tonne overhead crane.
The team at McEwens is excited about the move into the new premises and MD Aladair McEwen says it’s something the company has needed to do for a long time: “The existing workshop is a bit small and means we have to do a lot of moving equipment around when we have several jobs on the go.”
“The new facility will enable the engineers to work on larger projects at once, such as locomotive boiler rebuilds and skid-mounted modern boiler plants, with relative ease.”
We hope that work on the floor and internal fixtures will be completed within the next couple of months so that we can begin moving into the facility before the turn of the year.
