Renowned

has achieved due to hard graft and dogged determination,
a well earned national and growing international

Boilermaking and industrial Boiler plant engineering.
Alan

Alan
is a Member of The Newcomen Society,
a Member of the Association for Industrial Archeology
and a Member of the Northern Mill Engine Society.
Alan
has enjoyed several television appearances. During
the mid 1990's Yorkshire Television's popular Dales
Diary series explored some of his vast store of knowledge
relating to his collection of stationary steam engines
and traditional Boilermaking. Two programmes featured
Alan discussing the merits of some very curious mill
chimneys, and "Powering the Pennines"
- the Waterwheel sites in Nidderdale.
Alan
has appeared with Fred Dibnah's Industrial Age.
Yes, Alan is the dedicated enthusiast for Industrial
Engineering (some would say nut case!) - who fitted
a 3 tonne, 7'-6" diameter Lancashire boiler front
plate into his Kitchen - which Fred featured in the
programme. This 1882 relic fitted into the Kitchen
is unique in Britain : Definitely a first for Alan
!.
In
2000, Alan has appeared on Channel 4's very successful
Scrap Heap Challenge as "The Judge".
Alan
has written many articles on Boilermaking, steam engines
and industrial history and is also an accomplished
photographer.
During
the winter months, Alan lectures to learned societies,
history groups etc. all over northern England, although
he is prepared to travel anywhere.
